NAA Systems Operations Control Duty Manager

I. SUMMARY
The System Operations Control (SOC) team has the responsibility to provide on site 24 hours a day coordination and oversight of aircraft movements. In coordination with other departments, the SOC Duty Manager ensures that the SOC team provides for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of all North American Airlines aircraft. The primary purpose of this position is to support the management and control of North American Airlines operations systems in meeting a wide variety of user requirements for commercial and military air transport support; resolve problems associated with the planning, scheduling, systems, and applications of air transport capabilities; and assist aircrews, maintenance, and operations representatives, in a safe and timely manner, with unexpected delays and any issues that would impact operations success. This position has oversight responsibility of on-shift crew coordinators, dispatchers, operations controllers and maintenance controllers and any other employees assigned to shift work within the SOC.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The SOC Duty Manager will be responsible for short-notice operational and business planning and management of North American Airlines operations. Actions taken will implement North American Airlines directives and policies tasked from corporate and government agencies for the movement of North American Airlines resources in support of company flight operations.

Primary Duties include:
1. Oversees all North American Airlines flights to ensure that the schedule plan is completed.
-    Tracks the status of all North American Airlines flights worldwide, noting any deviations from the schedule plan. Evaluates business options that can be taken to ensure mission completion in a safe, effective, and timely manner. Relays information and coordinates with necessary agencies to initiate and implement required changes, coordinating with and updating senior personnel, as necessary. Maintains a chronological shift log for recording key data for all assigned flights and missions.
2. Resolves operational issues affecting unconventional and complex flight segments, and evaluates overall operations impact of delays and/or cancellations on the schedule plan.
-    Analyzes issues that have potential impact on flights, and relays information to operating departments, supporting agencies, marketing, department managers, the Director of SOC, and senior company management, as appropriate. Conducts necessary coordination and contingency planning in response to delays, changes, cancellations, or redirection from higher company authority. Reviews and recommends the most efficient transportation options to optimize use of resources in meeting customers requirements. Reviews and recommends delays and delay coding information for follow-on analysis.
3. Keeps North American Airlines leadership apprised of status and developments on all flights.
-    Provides air transportation operations information/recommendations to prevent and solve crises in the short-notice environment. Anticipates requirements for quickly evolving crises, working with additional agencies to ensure timely execution when necessary. Prepares briefings, slides, reports, and other necessary correspondence as necessary.
4. Serves as lead subject matter expert advising senior North American Airlines staff on a variety of air transportation operational issues. Acts as a floor supervisor while on duty in the SOC.
-    Provides guidance to SOC personnel during regular and irregular operations. Focal point for contingency planning during operational disruptions. Ensures current, accurate information and procedures are utilized. Routinely discusses and addresses operations work methods, problems, and answers company policy questions. Supports organizational policies and senior leadership through productive analysis and constructive suggestions. Provides operational input for daily senior management briefings as required. Examines and recommends changes to improve the quality and efficiency of the daily operational plan and execution of the daily schedule plan.
5. Develops, analyzes, evaluates, and maintains accurate air transportation metrics.
-    Based on data collection and current/historical records, reviews and updates air transportation metrics for all flights directed by the schedule plan, as necessary. Shares guidance and technical advice with interested personnel in the development of both short- and long-range air transportation improvements and solutions.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education and/or Experience
A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in airline operations or in an airline operations center are required. Alternately, if no degree, 6 years of experience in airline operations or in an airline operations center will be accepted. A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience is required.

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
*Must have a strong command of the English language including grammar, style, and punctuation for all written correspondence and oral communication.
*Must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks during periods of high operational tempo.
*Must have the ability to create and execute operational plans to prevent and minimize operational disruptions.
*Have a strong knowledge of the processes, procedures, and business practices of North American Airlines operations.
*Superior ability to pay attention to detail to ensure the timely coordination, communication and recording of operational details and events.
*Manage, motivate, develop, and direct people in their work so as to best achieve shared organizational and operational goals.
*Ability to think tactically as well as strategically when problem solving.
*Ability to give and receive directions and follow through with them to completion.

C. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Dispatch license required.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

A. Travel Requirements
One trip per year to an international destination for operational familiarization purposes.

B. Physical Demands
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

C. Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Works rotating shift schedules, usually 12 hours in length.
