Manager of Reliability

I. SUMMARY
The Manager of Reliability is a technical position which is responsible for root cause analysis of adverse trends in aircraft performance. Develops strategies around specific discrepancies to determine root cause of failures and systems which are not achieving appropriate reliability. Gathers data to accomplish analysis. Recommends actions which will improve the technical performance of the fleet. Supports CASS reporting requirements.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*Monitors aircraft performance and develop strategies to improve maintenance dispatch reliability.
*Determines root cause of components/systems failures.
*Gathers data to analyze and determine root cause of events.
*Analyzes data and presents findings and recommendations.
*Supports CASS reporting requirements.
*Other duties as assigned to assist North American Airlines in achieving its operational goals and objectives

III. QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education and/or Experience
For the Manager of Reliability job, a Bachelor's Degree (or its equivalent) and three to five years experience is required. Airline reliability experience preferred. Engineering or significant large aircraft trouble shooting experience required. Management experience is preferred.

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
*Software/computer skills required are Microsoft Office and airline maintenance enterprise software.
*A strong understanding of systems thinking (i.e., realizing that one piece of an organization has an impact on other components of the organization, and furthermore, navigating that impact successfully).
*The ability to use careful, measured judgment and decision-making (weighing the costs and benefits of a potential action; using discretion).
*Critical thinking abilities: using logic and analysis to determine strengths and weaknesses of a variety of solutions.
*Managing, motivating, developing, and directing people in their work so as to best achieve common organizational goals. At this level, developing others becomes increasingly important, given the consideration given to succession planning and sustaining a departmental strategic plan or vision.
*Superior communication skills: must be comfortable engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.
*Able to identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption.
*Ability to both give and receive directions and follow through with them to completion.
*Strong working knowledge of one's field or discipline in which one finds oneself engaged on a daily basis. Becoming fully aware and informed of current trends, developments, and changes in the sub-industry is critical for this.
*Must be an individual who is able to build relationships between individuals and within one's division.
*When necessary, the ability to understand and communicate within a technical or specialized subject matter, particularly as it pertains to aviation and the aviation industry.
*Must possess a strong ability to manage one's own time, as well as others' time, to ensure that the work that needs to be accomplished in a given time frame is, in fact accomplished. Hand-in-hand with this ability is the ability to prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives.
*Must have the ability to take initiative on a given task or project and persist with the project to its completion.
*The ability to process information from a variety of sources and to articulate information in a meaningful way to one's co-workers or supervisors is critical to this position.

C. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Airframe and Powerplant License required.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

A. Travel Requirements
Some travel is required for this job.

B. Physical Demands
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
