NAA Flight Technicians


I.  SUMMARY
The Flight Technician is responsible for accompanying all North American Airlines flights to ensure continued airworthiness and safety, no matter the destination.  This is a full-time position.

II.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*Accompanying all NAA aircraft on any outbound flight to help maintain its operational reliability by performing maintenance duties when needed.
*Performing regularly scheduled maintenance duties and log book discrepancy rectification to ensure that the NAA fleet is adequately maintained and able to meet its goals of quality and safety.
*Communicating with the Maintenance Control division with regard to the aircraft’s maintenance status to ensure that all individuals within technical and ground operations are kept abreast of an aircraft’s status and can make arrangements for further maintenance.
*Providing troubleshooting guidance and supervising contracted maintenance workers on any aircraft recovery missions to ensure that expertise is transmitted to multiple levels of NAA’s maintenance crew.
*Other duties as assigned to assist North American Airlines in achieving its operational goals and objectives.

III.  QUALIFICATIONS

A.  Education and/or Experience
For the Flight Technician job, a High School Diploma (or its equivalent), a formal training program following high school, and three to five years experience is required.  Experience in the airline industry is preferred, particularly in maintenance. A completed 40-hour B767 General Familiarization course with GE CF6-80C2 engine, or a completed 40-hour B757 General Familiarization course with RR Rb211 engine is required; both are preferred. Must have significant experience on 757 aircraft with Rolls Royce engine and 767 aircraft with GE CF6 engine.

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
*Must have strong understanding of aviation maintenance. 
*Must have the ability to use available resources and locate resources as needed to repair NAA aircraft in any remote location.
*Must have the ability to take initiative on a given task and persist with the task to its completion. 
*Able to identify problems and their sources.  While not necessarily accountable for the solutions, an individual must be able to identify potential resources to help in the decision making process for a particular problem. 
*Must possess an ability to manage one’s own time, to ensure that the work that needs to be accomplished in a given time frame is, in fact, accomplished.   The ability to prioritize the work provided by others in terms of importance is imperative to this position.
*The ability to receive direct or indirect instruction and act upon such instruction to accomplish a given task or duty.  In the event of unclear instruction, must have the ability to clearly ask for further information at their own discretion to gain clarity around tasks.
*Must have an ability to self-monitor one’s progress and abilities, so as to determine areas for potential development and growth within the company. 
*Strong communication skills: must be comfortable engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written).  In addition, the ability to listen actively is important for this job as well.
*The ability to process information from a variety of sources and to articulate information in a meaningful way to one’s co-workers or supervisors is critical to this position. 
*When necessary, the ability to understand and communicate within a technical or specialized subject-matter, particularly as it pertains to aviation and the aviation industry.

C. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
FAA A&P Certificate rating for a minimum of 3 years.  Must hold full certification for either the 40-hour B767 General Familiarization course with GE CF6-80C2 engine, or the 40-hour B757 General Familiarization course with RR Rb211 engine; both are preferred. Incumbent must complete NAA GMM training, and hold NAA QC “Blue Card” Airworthiness authorization.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

A.  Travel Requirements
Travel for this job requires upward of 100%, depending on the schedule.

B.  Physical Demands
Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking. There is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (20-70 lbs).

C.  Work Environment
Typically located in a comfortable indoor area.  There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
