I. SUMMARY
 
The Crew Scheduler – Level 1 is responsible for assisting more senior crew with the crew scheduling component of NAA operations. 
 
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Assisting more advanced crew schedulers in making notifications regarding crew scheduling and future assignments so that all NAA crew members are kept fully aware of quickly-changing information.
  • Responding to crewmember requests in a timely fashion to ensure that company-wide morale is sustained.
  • Preparing, in conjunction with more senior crew schedulers, daily reports detailing open time, open segments, pairing exceptions, and checking crews to ensure that NAA is operating with the most current flight information.
  • Other duties as assigned to assist North American Airlines in achieving its operational goals and objectives.
 
III. QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education and/or Experience
 
For the Level 1 Crew Scheduler, a High School Diploma (or its equivalent) is required. Experience in the airline industry in a ground staff position is required; airline crew scheduling experience strongly preferred. If at North American Airlines, Crew Scheduler Level 0 must be completed or waived in lieu of experience.
  
B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
 
  • Must have the ability to take initiative on a given task and persist with the task to its completion. 
  • Able to identify problems and their sources. While not necessarily accountable for the solutions, an individual must be able to identify potential resources to help in the decision making process for a particular problem. 
  • Must possess an ability to manage one’s own time, to ensure that the work that needs to be accomplished in a given time frame is, in fact, accomplished.   The ability to prioritize the work provided by others in terms of importance is imperative to this position.
  • The ability to receive direct or indirect instruction and act upon such instruction to accomplish a given task or duty. In the event of unclear instruction, must have the ability to clearly ask for Further Information at their own discretion to gain clarity around tasks.
  • Must have an ability to ­self-monitor one’s progress and abilities, so as to determine areas for potential development and growth within the company. 
  • Strong communication skills: must be comfortable engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written). In addition, the ability to listen actively is important for this job as well.
  • The ability to process information from a variety of sources and to articulate information in a meaningful way to one’s co-workers or supervisors is critical to this position. 
  • Must have a strong understand of clerical and administrative principles, procedures, and systems so as to complete one’s work with the best available resources, strategies, and plan.
  • Must have an interest and ability in serving others as one of the primary functions of their job. 
  • Must have a strong command of the English language including grammar, style, and punctuation for any written correspondence or communication.
  • The ability to work with computers is invaluable to this position. 
  • When necessary, the ability to understand and communicate within a technical or specialized subject-matter, particularly as it pertains to aviation and the aviation industry.
 
C. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
 
None are required for this job. This is not a DOT safety sensitive position.
 
IV. WORKING CONDITIONS
 
A. Travel Requirements
 
No travel is required for this job.
 
B. Physical Demands
 
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about, or occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).

C. Work Environment
