I. SUMMARY
The Dispatcher I is responsible for jointly working with the pilot in command for operational control to ensure in-flight safety of all North American Airlines flights.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collecting, monitoring, interpreting, disseminating, and applying weather and aeronautical information to the safe planning and conduct of each flight to ensure safety.
- Initiating request for data concerning flight planning, dispatch release, and flight information developed to assure proper flight watch.
- Providing operational information to flight crews relating to ATC facilities, airfield serviceability, meteorological conditions, communications facilities, aircraft performance, and operational data, to keep crews aware of changing conditions while in flight.
- Assuring that all aircraft under his or her jurisdiction are properly monitored per FAA regulations and company policies to ensure compliance and safety of flight operations.
- Assuring that all documentation is filed as prescribed in FAA regulations to maintain NAA’s compliance.
- Coordinating with other departments, as needed, to ensure the safe and legal operation of all flights to contribute to the overall goals and mission of NAA’s flight operation division.
- Calculating required fuel loads and performance limitations for each flight to ensure operational optimization.
- Coordinating with ATC facilities to provide the most safe and efficient route between city pairs to ensure optimal routing for NAA flights.
- Other duties as assigned to assist North American Airlines in achieving its operational goals and objectives.

A. Education and/or Experience
For the Dispatcher I job, a high school diploma (or its equivalent) is required. Experience in the airline industry, with an emphasis on operations, is strongly preferred. Dispatch experience preferred.
B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
· A working knowledge of FAR 121 Dispatch fuel requirements, weather interpretation, and aircraft performance are all strongly suggested.
· Strong communication skills: must be comfortable with engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.
· Must have a strong command of the English language including grammar, style, and punctuation for all written correspondence and oral communication.
· Must have the ability to create and execute operational plans to prevent and minimize operational disruptions.
· Superior ability to pay attention to detail to ensure the timely coordination, communication and recording of operational details and events.
· Ability to think tactically as well as strategically when problem-solving.
· Must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks during periods of high operational tempo.
· Ability to clearly and effectively give and receive directions and follow through with them to completion.
· Critical thinking abilities: using logic and analysis to determine strengths and weaknesses of a variety of solutions to any given problem.
· Strong knowledge of the processes, procedures, and business practices of North American Airlines operations.
· When necessary, the ability to understand and communicate within a technical or specialized subject matter, particularly as it pertains to aviation and the aviation industry.

FAA Aircraft Dispatch License.
IV. WORKING CONDITIONS
A. Travel Requirements
Annual familiarization flight required as per FAA regulations.
B. Physical Demands
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about, or occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
