Quality Control Inspector

I.  SUMMARY

 

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for conducting internal and on-site vendor audits, overseeing NAA maintenance, and assisting his supervisors in various responsibilities all geared toward quality improvements in North American Airlines operations.

 

II.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Performing a variety of continuous analysis and surveillance functions to ensure NAA and FAA compliance.
  • Assisting the manager of quality control and the director of quality assurance to complete assigned projects.  
  • Other duties as assigned to assist North American Airlines in achieving its operational goals and objectives.
  • Performing oversight of maintenance contractors to insure work is accomplished in accordance with company procedures and FAA regulations.
  • Perform aircraft inspections
  • Review log pages for compliance with company procedures and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Review work packages in an audit function to ensure all work performed in compliance with company procedures and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Maintain surveillance over deferred items, repetitive problems, and  recommend action to improve aircraft reliability
  • Perform receiving inspection of parts.  

 

 

III.  QUALIFICATIONS

A.  Education and/or Experience

 

For the Quality Control Inspector job an Associate’s degree (two year program or its equivalent) as well as five to seven years of experience is required. 

 

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

  • Strong working knowledge of one’s Field or Discipline in which they find themselves engaged on a daily basis.  Becoming fully aware and informed of current trends, developments, and changes in the sub-industry is critical for this.
  • Strong Communication Skills; Must be comfortable with engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.
  • Must possess a strong ability to Manage One’s Own Time, as well as Other’s Time to ensure that the work that needs to be accomplished in a given time frame is, in fact accomplished.  Hand in hand with this ability is the ability to Prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives.
  • Individuals in this capacity must be able to Instruct Others, imparting knowledge and abilities to develop others within their scope of supervision. 
  • An individual working in a supervisory or professional position must be able to Engage Individuals using Multiple Learning Styles in order to transmit information and develop those who they are supervising.  
  • Able to Identify Problems, their Sources, and their Potential Solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to day operations without interruption.
  • Must have a strong command of Reasoned, Measured Decision Making based upon analyzing the pros and cons of each potential decision to be made. 
  • Must have a firm grasp and working knowledge of the analytical tools necessary to perform complex analyses and evaluations of flight and maintenance operations. 
  • When necessary, the ability to Understand and Communicate within a technical or specialized subject-matter, particularly as it pertains to aviation and the aviation industry.

 

C. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

An FAA Airframe and Power plant Certificate is required. 

 

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

 

A.  Travel Requirements

 

No travel is required for this job.

 

B.  Physical Demands

 

The job has intermittent periods during with continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

C.  Work Environment
