I.  SUMMARY

 

The Manager Quality Control is responsible for managing technical inspection staff, maintaining the continuous analysis and surveillances program, and ensuring that all quality control metrics are met at North American Airlines.

 

II.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Managing technical inspection staff and QC personnel in accordance with airline policy to ensure that all personnel are aware and working toward the NAA standards of quality in operations.
  • Maintaining the Continuous Analysis and Surveillance Program to ensure safety. 
  • Drafting and incorporating GMM revisions as deemed necessary.
  • Reviewing and overseeing technical publications in accordance with airline policy.
  • Advising the training programs and training requirements to ensure consistency within the airline.
  • Managing and coordinating vendor use (special projects, A and C checks, out stations as related to quality) in accordance with airline policy. 
  • Other duties as assigned to assist North American Airlines in achieving its operational goals and objectives.

 

III.  QUALIFICATIONS

A.  Education and/or Experience

 

For the Manager Quality Control job, a Bachelors Degree (or its equivalent) and five to seven years experience is required.  Experience in the airline industry is preferred. 

 

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

  • A strong understanding of Systems Thinking (i.e. both realizing that one piece of an organization has an impact on other components of the organization.  Furthermore, navigating that impact successfully).
  • The ability to Think Carefully and Critically About One’s Division or Department while balancing the needs, goals, and vision of the company at large.
  • The ability to use Careful, Measured Judgment and Decision Making; (Weighing the costs and benefits of a potential action; using discretion).
  • Critical Thinking Abilities; (Using logic and analysis to determine strengths and weaknesses of a variety of solutions).

 

 

 

  • Managing, Motivating, Developing, and Directing people in their work so as to best achieve common organizational goals.  At this level, developing others becomes increasingly important, given the consideration given to succession planning and sustaining and implementing the NAA standards of quality in operations.
  • Superior Communication Skills; Must be comfortable engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.
  • Able to Identify Problems, their Sources, and their Potential Solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to day operations without interruption.
  • Superior attention to detail, given the quality control nature of this position.
  • Working Knowledge of Standard and Advanced Business Principles and Procedures; moreover, the ability to incorporate them into one’s business unit or division to achieve measurable, sustainable results.
  • Ability to Think Strategically about issues pertaining to a particular unit, division, or company.
  • Ability to both Give and Receive directions and follow through with them to completion.
  • Strong working knowledge of one’s Field or Discipline in which they find themselves engaged on a daily basis.  Becoming fully aware and informed of current trends, developments, and changes in the sub-industry is critical for this.
  • Must be an individual who is able to Build Relationships between individuals and within one’s division. 
  • When necessary, the ability to Understand and Communicate within a technical or specialized subject-matter, particularly as it pertains to aviation and the aviation industry.

 

C. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

An Airframe and Powerplant Certificate is required.

B.  Physical Demands    

 

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.  The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
